The Story of Sweet Sweets

Our founder, Maria Carpio attended the prestigious "Fame" High School (LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts) in New York City.

Maria majored in the visual arts and enjoyed creating her artwork using oils, watercolor, charcoal, and different mediums. Upon graduation in 2003, Maria wanted to create her artwork with food and was interested in pursuing the culinary arts. However, she decided to pursue her certification in childhood education as an elementary school teacher.

With the birth of her first daughter, Maria picked up baking and treat-making in 2013. In 2014 Maria returned to the classroom until December 2020. Upon her move to New Jersey, Maria returned to her passion in treat-making full-time in 2022. Baking, decorating, and creating art  has been a part of Maria's life for decades and loves sharing her passion with all her clients and strives to bring joy and smiles with her edible art.
